The videos will be all semi-professionally produced by me, except the one’s embedded from You Tube.

About me and my trips

You might be surprised, but my nationality is German, I live in a town called Grevenbroich which is situated in western Germany, about 30 kilometres north of the famous city of Cologne. I have been travelling to Australia since 1993. In the meantime I can count fourteen visits to Down Under, the shortest trip was five weeks and the longest ten month. So you can imagine that you receive good insider information on this webpage. My trips to Australia were always very individually. The type of accommodation was mostly bed and breakfast with Australian families,

as well as camping. When you travel like that, there will be always great experiences. For example, I stayed with students in Brisbane, with a dock worker in Sydney, on a sheep station in Broken Hill, with a pensioner in Adelaide or with a wealthy businessman in Perth. It was fantastic to take part on different levels of the Australian society. All I can say: great people - awesome experiences. My favourite is definitely outback travel. The most outstanding trip was a 2800 kilometres mountain bike tour across the South Australian Outback in 2007.

One day I had the idea to produce documentaries about my trips. The first step was a distance learning course in Journalism in 2001/ 2002. After that, I did a film course with German television professionals in Namibia. Everything was done in my spare time, financed by my job as a car detailer, which is still providing my income. Currently i have a long break from my daily work routine. I quit my job, gave up my flat and travel through Australia for one year.

So far I have produced two travel documentaries which were shown in town halls and culture centres in Germany. I don't do that anymore because it is too much effort and you don't earn enough money to cover the cost. I will concentrate on extending this website in the future to provide more travel information on Australia for the whole world.

Why Australia?

A friend of mine went to Australia in 1992. He was very impressed by the beauty of the red continent. I listened to interesting stories about the outstanding hospitality of the Australians. He told me also some great reports about outback travel. After a look to some great photographs I got really curious about Down Under.

A few weeks later in a book shop I picked an individual travel guide to Australia off the shelf. That gave me the last boost to buy my flight ticket to Down Under. I was really strained to get my first experience about outback travel. Would you believe it, I was 31 years old and had never been in an aircraft before.

The first flight with Qantas from Frankfurt to Sydney was in January 1993. At this time there were stopovers in Bangkok and Singapore. Seven weeks lasted my first trip. I was very impressed to see Sydney and in contrast my outback travel in Western Australia. Now I have been thirteen times to Australia. You may think I have seen nearly everything of the Red Continent, but that isn’t true. Australia is bigger than Europe and my style of travelling is the slow one. I hate it to cover thousands of kilometres in a few days. So I can still discover new things on my future trips to Australia.

Queensland: Brisbane & Hinterland, Paciffic Highway from Brisbane to Sydney, Cairns, Atherton Tablelands, Kuranda, Daintree, Townsville, Magnetic Island.

Northern Territory: Darwin, Kakadu National Park, Litchfield National Park. Outback travel to Uluru, Kata Tjutas.

Western Australia: Perth & South West Corner, Outback travel to Kalgoorlie, Highway No.1 along the West Coast = Geraldton, Denham, Canarvon, Exmouth, Port Hedland, Broome, Derby, Halls Creek, Kununurra. Highway No.95 via Newman & Meekatharra, Nullarbor crossing

South Australia: Adelaide, Barossa & Clare Valley, Outback travel to the Flinders Ranges, Leigh Creek, Marree, Willliam Creek, Oodnadatta Track, Marla, Stuart Highway, Eyre Peninsula, Ceduna, Kangaroo Island, Limestone Coast, Mt Gambier.

Victoria: Great Ocean Road, Melbourne. Hume highway from Melbourne to Sydney, Grampians.

Tasmania: North east Tasmania > Devonport, Launceston, George Town, Freycinet National Park, Swansea, Bicheno, St.Marys, St.Helens, Great Lake, Central Highland, Westburry, Deloraine, Mole Creek.
